I went to La ferme thatch cottage with my boyfriend for our 6 year anniversary on the 7th - 9th November and was highly disappointed.
1: We arrived only to be told a gentleman named Robin would come to our door every day to find out which activities we wanted to do, no one came for two days and on the third day I had to send the host a request sms for Robin to come around.
2: The Place was dusty and had not had a proper clean before we came.
3: There was a major leak in the kitchen and all our food stuffs got wet and we had to purchase more (biltong, crackers etc)
4:I requested to go for a horse ride but when I asked to have the horses ready by 3pm on the 8th I was declined only to find The owner/host of the property was not aware of the feeding times and therefore I could not ride then.
5: The water pump was right next to our window and was extremely loud and annoying
6: The bath was a nice decent size but could only be filled once which meant one of us had to have a freezing cold bath in the morning and the outside shower did not help in the rain and especially being at the back of the house.
7: The host did not greet us goodbye even though we let her know we would be leaving at 2pm. When we got home we realised that we had left a the freezer full of our food and expensive alcohol which when i frantically asked for I got a nonchalant reply of ‘the bread and veg are gone. Sorry for the bad news’ which implies the staff had blatantly lied to her face and left out the part that there was 3 bottles of alcohol in the freezer along with a stack of food.
She should question the loyalty of her staff who feel they can take whatever someone leaves behind without the judgement to report it to her first. People might have lost far worse.
I am extremely disappointed, it was not about the alcohol which I would have liked it back being it was my property but the principal of it. Her staff are stealing and its unacceptable. I will not be returning to this hell hole.

Anybody who has ever stayed at La Ferme will tell you that the experience has been great. Robin and Rashid are exceptional and always go the extra mile for clients. The cottages are always cleaned and checked by me personally. This client is upset because she left some food and “expensive” alcohol in the freezer. When the cottages are cleaned any lost property is brought to me except for food which we give to the staff. She is being mean and petty. This client is not welcome at La Ferme again - she called my staff thieves and incompetent all because they took her left overs home which she forgot in the freezer. Shame on you!!!
