Cape Town Carnival

Over the years Cape Town Carnival has become a “must not miss” event on the international tourism calendar.  The carnival is street parade which showcases and celebrates the diversity of Cape Town and South Africa.

This years theme “StreetLife” will aim to highlight how every member of our society has a street that they can call home within our beautifully diverse city; a space where we can all come together and feel connected.

The Cape Town Carnival takes place on the 12th March this year and entrance is absolutely free.  The day is broken up into 3 parts: The Fan walk, The Carnival Parade and the Street Party.

The Fan Walk which starts at 15:00, transforms into a pedestrian walkway filled with food vendors, stalls and festive hospitality areas.

The Carnival Parade starts around 19:00 and continues for approximately two and a half hours. Carnival visitors can expect dazzling large-scale floats accompanied by over 2 000 spectacularly costumed dancers, musicians and performers.

The street party should start around 21:30 and really speaks for itself – guests can enjoy the incredible open air Cape Town Carnival Street Party!
